PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid the occurrence of ion exchanges between the gas components of a mixed gas between the electrodes of a pump cell and the electrodes of a concentration cell in an electrochemical sensor element which finds the concentrations of the gas components. SOLUTION: The pump cell has a first pump electrode arranged in a measuring gas chamber, a second pump electrode arranged on the surface of the cell directed to the mixed gas, and a first solid electrolyte layer provided between the first and second pump electrodes. The concentration cell has a reference electrode arranged in a reference gas chamber and a measuring electrode arranged in the measuring gas chamber. A second solid electrolyte layer is provided adjacently to the first solid electrolyte layer and, in the second solid electrolyte layer, the reference gas chamber and measuring gas chamber are provided. In this case, in addition, an inhibiting layer 24 is provided. The layer 24 inhibits the ionic conduction between the electrodes 20 and 23 of the pump cell and the electrodes 21 and 22 of the concentration cell. |
