PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device capable of reducing the distortion and color slurring of an image formed on or transferred to a rotating body such as an image carrier or an intermediate transfer body and forming a high- quality image by reducing speed fluctuation caused on the rotating body such as the image carrier or the intermediate transfer body without making the device large in size and high in cost. SOLUTION: This image forming device is equipped with a plurality of image carriers arranged so that each monochrome toner image may be formed by forming each latent image in accordance with the input information of every color and developing it with toner of a corresponding color, and having equal revolving speed. The device is constituted so that phases at the meshing positions of cumulative pitch errors in the rotating directions of image carrier gears attached to the ends of the respective image carriers may be nearly aligned with each other in order to drive and rotate the respective image carriers when the images formed at the same position on a recording medium are formed at the image forming start positions of the respective image carriers.
