PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector unit which reduces electric power consumption without the need for a user to check the state of videos at all times, a method of reducing its electric power consumption and a recording medium recorded with its program. SOLUTION: The video signals formed by a video signal source 2 connected to the projector unit 1 are subjected to prescribed processing by a signal processing section 3 and thereafter whether the no-signal state or not is monitored by an input signal monitor section 41. The duration time of the no-signal state is measured by a timer section 42 and a power source control section 43 controls the electric power for supplying the electric power to a lamp 6 in accordance with the duration time and controls the electric power to be supplied to a fan 9 in accordance with the electric power to be supplied to the lamp 6.
