PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera constituted so that a back light can be turned on/off without additionally installing an operating member by using an operating member which can be easily operated even in the dark also as a switch for turning on/off the back light. SOLUTION: The camera equipped with a strobe unit 179 which is made movable from a 1st position to a 2nd position, is provided with a popup SW(switch) 159 for detecting whether the strobe unit 17 is positioned in the 1st position or the 2nd position, a liquid crystal display panel 136 for displaying photographing information and a back light LED 180 for illuminating the liquid crystal display panel 136, and the liquid crystal display panel 136 is illuminated by the back light LED 180 in response to the output change of the popup SW 159.
