METHOD AND TOOL FOR ASSEMBLING OPTICAL CONNECTOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To irradiate also the inside of a ferrule with light in order to ensure curing of an adhesive in the assembly step of an MT connector where an adhesive of the photocuring type is used. SOLUTION: In a method for assembling an optical connector, an optical fiber tape 42 having its cover removed at the end part 42a and having the front end cut with high accuracy is set in a ferrule 41. The front end of the optical fiber 42 and a ferrule end surface 413 are aligned by using a dummy ferrule 51, and the optical fiber 42 and the ferrule 41 are fixed in a short time by using a photo-curable adhesive 40. In order to irradiate the adhesive 40 efficiently with light and to perform fixation of the adhesive 40 and the optical fiber 42 at high speed, light is irradiated from the window part 414 of the ferrule 41. By incorporating the optical fiber 52 in the dummy ferrule 51 and letting light pass through the optical fiber 52, light is radiated also from the end surface of the above ferrule 41 to improve the efficiency of curing of the adhesive 40.
