PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color filter device for image projection and an image projecting device in which the cross section area of a color filter portion to the cross section area of the passage of a necessary light beam can be reduced and which can be miniaturized. SOLUTION: The image projecting device 10 is provided with a light source part 11, a color wheel part 14, a digital light valve 18, and a projection lens part 19. The color wheel part 14 includes a rotatable body part. The body part has six side face areas, and are arranged so as to cross the passage of the light beam and an arbitrary side face area at right angles. Three kinds of color filters are provided in the side face area, and two kinds of color filters are located on the passage of the light beam. The color filter located on the passage of the light beam from the light source part 11 is switched by rotating the body part, and thereby only the light beam of a specific wavelength region is transmitted. This light beam is reflected by a DMD which is an example of a digital light valve 18. An image corresponding to the reflected light is projected on a screen by a projection lens part 19.
