PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fingerprint authentication system which is inexpensive and has high security. SOLUTION: This fingerprint authentication system is composed of a fingerprint information card provided with a fingerprint information reading part having a function for reading fingerprint information, a temporary memory part having a function for storing the fingerprint information read by the fingerprint information reading part, and a fingerprint information outputting part having a function for outputting the fingerprint information stored in the temporary memory part to an information processor, and with the information processor having a database part and a means for collating the fingerprint information inputted from the fingerprint information outputting part of the fingerprint information card and stored in the temporary memory part of the fingerprint information card with a fingerprint information database stored in the fingerprint information database part when a fingerprint authentication program included in an application program installed in the information processor is activated.
