PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a subsidiary device for a shield machine, which can prevent increase in cost of tentative excavating work or decrease in working efficiency, by shortening the total extension distance of trailing carriages. SOLUTION: According to the subsidiary device, a pin connecting section 5 for connecting vehicles 3A and 3B together consists of four members, i.e., a joint pin 5a which functions as a rotation center of both the vehicles 3A and 3B, a pair of joint portions 5b and 5c which are arranged at a rear portion of the vehicle 3A and each have a through hole into which the joint pin 5a is vertically inserted, and a joint portion 5d which is arranged at a front portion of the vehicle 3B, fitted into an interval between the joint portions 5b and 5c, and has a through hole into which the joint pin 5a is inserted, to thereby connect the joint portion 5d to the joint portions 5b and 5c. Therefore, a distance between the adjacent vehicles 3A and 3B is shortened, so that the total extension distance of the trailing carriages is shortened. Further, the adjacent vehicles 3A and 3B are connected together at two upper and lower locations, and therefore a transverse moment generated in a single vehicle is dispersed to another vehicle, which leads to tumbling resistant structure of the vehicles.
