PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oil absorbing material that can surround, absorb and stick even oil of high viscosity relatively difficult to recover and to reinforce the function as an oil adsorbing material to ensure the recovery of oil and to efficiently recover the surrounded spillage oil, solid dirt, and the like to land or onboard. SOLUTION: In order to surround, absorb and stick the oil floating on the water surface, this oil adsorbing material includes an external cover filled with a filler such as powdered or fibrous bark inside, machinable in various shapes and formed of liquid permeable material. A rope can be additionally provided, and a water repellent, a buoyancy increasing material, and the like can be added and mixed into the bark.
