UNTWISTED SILK YARN, METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME AND WOVEN AND KNITTED FABRICS USING THE SILK YARN

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce an untwisted silk yarn that has bulky fabric hand without occurrence of abrasion and fluffing and can be widely used not only in the form of woven fabrics but also in the form of knitted fabrics, and provide clothes using the these fabrics. SOLUTION: The untwisted silk yarn according to this invention is produced by using a chemical or synthetic fiber having a larger hot-water shrinkage than that of raw silk as a core yarn and winding the core yarn with refined and untwisted silk yarn and allowing the silk yarn wound around the core yarn to swell on the yarn surface wherein the hot-water shrinkage of the chemical or synthetic fiber is larger than that of the raw silk with the difference in the range of 9% to 12% between them. The untwisted silk yarn is produced by covering untwisted raw silk with chemical or synthetic fiber having a larger hot water shrinkage than that of raw silk, then subjecting the covered raw silk to a refining treatment to allow the chemical or synthetic fiber to shrink with hot water and simultaneously the untwisted raw silk is swollen around the core yarn of the chemical or synthetic fiber by the refining treatment. The resultant untwisted silk yarn according to this invention can produce various kinds of silk items by weaving and knitting.
