PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for ink jet recording capable of obtaining excellent image quality irrespective of a type of a recording medium and an image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: The method for ink jet recording comprises the steps of discharging the ink containing a color material and a solvent toward a surface of the recording medium, and forming the image by the ink on the surface of the medium. The method further comprises a powder scattering step of scattering a powder capable of separating the color material and the solvent in the ink toward the surface of the medium.
