PURPOSE: An LCD device having an energy recovery function and a method for driving the same are provided to reduce power consumption by recovering driven charges. CONSTITUTION: An LCD panel is formed by an STN(Super Twist Nematic) LCD panel(100). A common voltage selection circuit(200) is formed with the first and the second PMOS transistors and the first and the second NMOS transistors. The common voltage selection circuit(200) has a common energy recovery portion. The common energy recovery portion is formed with a multitude of switch. The switches are connected between neighboring common electrodes of common electrodes(COM0-COM3). A segment voltage selection circuit(300) is formed with the third and the fourth PMOS transistors and the third and the fourth NMOS transistors. A segment energy recovery portion(310) is formed with a multitude of switch and capacitors(Cst1,Cst2).
