PURPOSE: A transmission gear ratio control system for a continuously variable transmission is provided to realize quick transmission gear ratio control by acting transmission gear ratio and line pressure on a variable sheave of a primary pulley. CONSTITUTION: A transmission gear ratio control system for a continuously variable transmission includes a first regulator valve(15), a transmission gear ratio control valve(17), and a second regulator valve(19). The first regulator valve controls hydraulic pressure produced at an oil pump by a first line pressure(c) and supplies to a variable sheave(25) of a secondary pulley(23). The transmission gear ratio control valve controls the first line pressure supplied form the first regulator valve by transmission gear ratio control pressure(d) and supplies to a variable sheave(29) of a primary pulley(27). The second regulator valve controls the first line pressure supplied from the first regulator valve by the second line pressure(e) and supplies to the variable sheave of the primary pulley additionally with the transmission gear ratio control pressure. The first line pressure of high pressure is acted on the variable sheave of the primary pulley with the transmission gear ratio control pressure together, and therefore quick transmission gear ratio control is performed.
