PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photosensitive and heat sensitive recording material capable of recording an image in the visible light region and capable of forming a high contrast image having good surface whiteness and to provide an image recording method and a visible rays polymerizable composition used in the method. SOLUTION: The photosensitive and heat sensitive recording material has a photosensitive and heat sensitive recording layer containing a color developing component A housed in heat responsive microcapsules and containing at least a substantially colorless compound B having a polymerizable group and a part which reacts with the color developing component A to develop a color in the same molecule, a visible light absorbing dye, an organic borate compound and a UV absorbing radical generating agent at the outside of the microcapsules.
