PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of making a near-field light generating element with a microscopic aperture through simple processes. SOLUTION: The near-field light generating element is made by the step of making at least one weight-shaped protrusion, the step of making an aperture control portion having approximately the same height as the protrusion, the step of forming a light blocking film for covering at least the protrusion, and the step of forming an optical aperture at the end of the protrusion by applying forces to the protrusion and the aperture control portion at the same time using a pushing element having a rough plane.
