PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a direct injection type combustion chamber capable of preventing the occurrence of a misfire and pale smoke by reducing the wetting of the combustion chamber wall surface due to adhesion of an atomized fuel. SOLUTION: The combustion chamber 2 is intrusively formed in a piston head 1, and an injection part 5a of a fuel injector 5 is protrusively faced to the inside of the combustion chamber 2 and is so structured as to inject the atomized fuel q toward the inside wall surface 3 of the combustion chamber 2 immediately before a compression top. A heat-resistant oil-repellent film 4 is overlaid and formed on the inside wall surface 3 of the combustion chamber 2 and is so formed as to set the contact angleθof each oil droplet Q of the atomized fuel q stuck to the oil-repellent film 4 larger than that of each oil droplet of the atomized fuel stuck to the surface of a piston head material 2a.
