PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lightweight mirror such that the processing time is decreased, mounting work is simplified and its time is decreased, the cost for mounting a back plate is reduced with respect to mounting a back plate, and to provide a method for inspecting a lightweight mirror such that the mounting state of the back plate on the core can be easily inspected. SOLUTION: The back plate is divided into a plurality of back plate forming members each being larger than the opening size of a recessed hole formed in each core. The back plate is made of the same material as that of the glass material constituting the mirror structure or made of a material having a similar coefficient of linear expansion as the glass material.
