PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To satisfactorily perform a paper feeding operation by preventing the tip part of a paper feed roller from strongly rubbing a paper sheet with contact feed roller when a paper is started to feed in a paper feeder using a crescent paper feed roller. SOLUTION: The paper feed roller 21 is fixedly held on a drive shaft 20 through the base member 23 of a frame body 22, and formed so as to cove the surface of the arc part 26 by an elastic body 30. A notch part 27 is provided in the arc part 26 at the tip part 31 of the frame body 22, elastic parts 28 and 29 allowing an elastic deformation are formed at both sides thereof, while a major feed part forms a rigid body part not for allowing an elastic deformation. Thus, the elastic parts press the paper sheet with a weak pressing force when the paper sheet feed is started to prevent the paper sheet from being damaged.
