PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent solidification of black ink discharged from a black ink head at the time of cleaning. SOLUTION: The ink jet printer comprises a black ink head ejecting black ink, a color ink head ejecting color inks, a unit for cleaning the black ink head and the color ink head, a member provided in the cleaning unit and containing ink discharged from both ink heads, and a section for driving both ink heads and the cleaning unit wherein the drive section discharges black ink and color ink from respective ink heads to the same position of the containing member at the time of cleaning. |
