PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a sulfone derivative useful for simple production of various indanone derivatives. SOLUTION: This sulfone derivative is expressed by formula (1) (where R100 represents an alkyl group, an alkenyl group, an aryl group or an aralkyl group each containing an oxygen-functional group (these groups may have an oxygen atom, a nitrogen atom, a sulfur atom or a halogen atom, or a substituent group which may contain the above atom); R101 represents a polymer residue which may have a substituent group; and R102 and R103 each represents an alkyl group, an alkenyl group, an alkynyl group or an aralkyl group (these groups may have a substituent group).
