METHOD FOR HEAT TREATMENT OF OPTICAL FIBER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide treatment by which a bare fiber is prevented from flaws and breaking strength is not deteriorated by improving a method for fixedly holding the optical fiber when the optical fiber is heat-treated (TEC treatment). SOLUTION: In the treatment, breaking strength is prevented from deterioration by heating the limited part of the bare fiber h after fixedly holding the bared fiber part h and a coated optical fiber part f with an optical fiber holding and fixing means 10 which is composed of: a die 1 having a die hole 2 for holding a prescribed part of the bare fiber part h in which the coating of the end part is removed from the coated optical fiber f; an optical fiber holding member 4 in which a V groove structural part 3 for holding the coated optical fiber part f is carved; an optical fiber pressing member 5 for fixing the coated optical fiber part f held in the V groove structural part 3; and a fine adjustment pedestal 6.
