PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To fix a catalyst mat at a catalyst holding body through an adhesion part situated at an overhanging part overhanging to a tip from the end part in the peripheral direction of the catalyst mat, to enable the decrease of the diameter of the catalyst mat through the reduction of the thickness of the catalyst mat, and facilitate a work, such as insertion in a metal shell. SOLUTION: In a catalyst converter formed that the catalyst mat is wound around the periphery of the catalyst holding body, the catalyst holding body is inserted in a metal shell, and the catalyst holding body is contained in the metal shell. Films are stuck on the two ends of the outer surface of the catalyst mat such that an overhanging part overhangs from the end part in the peripheral direction of the catalyst mat toward a tip. An adhesion part is situated at the overhanging part, and the catalyst mat is fixed at the catalyst holding body through the adhesion part. Further, overhanging part is formed by stacking a film on the outer peripheral surface of the catalyst mat in a manner to overhang from the end part in a peripheral direction of the catalyst mat toward the tip. The catalyst mat is wound around the periphery of the catalyst holding body. The overhanging part is pulled in the winding direction. The adhesion part situated at the overhanging part is stuck on the outer peripheral surface of the catalyst mat. The catalyst holding body is inserted in the metal shell and the catalyst holding body is contained in the metal shell. |
