PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide reformed graphite particles having improved performance as an electrode material for secondary batteries by further improving the sphere shaped reformed particle disclosed in the Patent Publication 1999-263612 applied by the present applicants and to provide an electrode material for secondary batteries which is composed of the reformed graphite particles. SOLUTION: Spherical graphite particles (G2) having a cabbage like appearance formed so that the graphite chips are directed to various directions in the observation of broken-out surfaces with a microscope is manufactured by allowing raw material graphite particles to collide with each other in a fluidizing state. In this case, (A) the raw material graphite particles (G1) previously heated to >=100 deg.C are brought in collision with each other in the fluidized state in the process, or (B) the spherical graphite particles (G2) obtained through the process are heated to >=100 deg.C and hot-pressed. |
