PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid-crystalline medium for TN and STN displays which do not have the above-specified draw backs or which have them only to a lesser extent and at the same time have short switching times, in particular at low temperatures, and very good steepness. SOLUTION: This liquid-crystalline medium comprises one or more compounds of the formula A and one or more compounds of the formula B (Ra, Rb and Rbb are each an unsubstituted 1-12C alkyl or the like, singly substituted by CN or CF3 or at least singly substituted by a halogen; L1 is hydrogen or fluorine; Q is CF2, OCF2, CFH, OCFH or a single bond; Y is fluorine or chlorine; Q-Y alternatively also are NCS, SCN or SF5). |
