PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that freely forms a multi-color image of high image quality on the surface or back or both the sides of a transfer material without providing a transfer-material inverting means. SOLUTION: The apparatus has a first intermediate transfer belt 19, and a transfer roller 20a which transfers a toner image on a photoreceptor 9 to the surface of the first intermediate transfer belt 23. The apparatus also has a second intermediate transfer belt 23, and a transfer roller 23a which transfers a toner image on the first intermediate transfer belt to the surface of a transfer material being carried by the second intermediate transfer belt or to the surface of the intermediate transfer belt. The apparatus further has a transfer charger 23e which transfers the toner image on the second intermediate transfer belt to the back of the transfer paper being carried by the second intermediate transfer belt, and a fixing device 28 which fixes the toner image on the transfer material by passing the transfer material between fixing rollers 280a and 280b arranged in a pair. Herein, the fixing rollers 280a and 280b are made of a material having small surface roughness. |
