PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform temperature control of intake air for making an operating load range wider in compression self-ignition and combustion. SOLUTION: In an operation region where inter cooling causes excessively low intake air temperature to preclude self-ignition operation, intake air supercharged by a supercharger 25 goes around an intercooler 27 to a bypass 29 to produce a temperature rise of the intake air.
