PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent inflow of unburned matter into an external heat exchanger and production of corrosive gas therein. SOLUTION: In an RDF-burning circulating fluidized bed boiler, having a constitution wherein sand blown up from a furnace 1 is separated and collected by a sand separator 10, passed through the external heat exchanger 18 and circulated to the furnace 1, the furnace 1 is set at a height, where RDF can be combusted completely in the furnace under the conditions that an in-furnace superficial speed is almost fixed at 3.7 m or more, an in-furnace sand retention time at 3 sec or more and an in-furnace temperature at 850-950 deg.C. The RDF is combusted completely in the furnace 1 and the sand alone is made to flow into the external heat exchanger 18 from the sand separator 10, while the unburned matter is prevented from flowing thereinto.
