A battery case is provided with a cover (3) having a through passage in the form of a tube (11) passing through the cover and plugged on the outside with a thermofusible metallic composition (13) and on the inside with an organic composition (18), in order to provide a safety vent during storage of the battery. The battery has a metallic case containing active materials forming the anode and the cathode, respectively, and an electrolyte (10). The case is closed at its upper part by a hermetically sealed cover (3), and is separated from the active materials by an isolating element (separator) (4). The cover (3) is provided with two contact terminals electrically connected to the cathode and the anode. A through passage formed by a tube (11) located near to, or merging with, the negative terminal passes from the inside to the outside of the battery, and is plugged on the outside by a thermofusible metallic composition. The through passage is plugged on the inside of the battery by an organic composition (18) having a melting point that is less than or equal to that of the thermofusible metallic composition (13). The organic composition (18) is inert with respect to the electrolyte (10). |
