<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet feeder of simple structure capable of stably feeding various types of sheets. SOLUTION: This sheet feeder comprises a feed roller 51 for feeding a loaded sheet, a separating roller 53 allowed to abut on the roller surface of the feed roller 51 for separating the sheet, a torque limiter 61 for feeding a specified separating force in the reverse direction of a sheet feeding direction to the separating roller 53, and a torque control mechanism 91 capable of switching between a connected state for feeding the specified separating force by the torque limiter 61 to the separating roller 53 and a cut state for not feeding the specified separating force. The torque control mechanism 91 is in the cut state at the start of feeding and, when the feed roller 51 feeds the sheet a specified distance from the start of the feeding, switched to the connected state, and the separating force when the torque control mechanism 91 is in the cut state is set smaller than the separating force when the mechanism is in the connected state.</p> |
