The present invention relates to a mobile terminal and a controlling method thereof. The mobile terminal comprises: a display unit displaying at least one information on a standby screen; and a control unit which searches at least one information related to at least one among the current location, the current time, a predetermined interest, at least one external device connected thereto via communications and a predetermined schedule, and controls for displaying the searched information on the standby screen. The present invention provides a user with the optimum information in the current situation by searching at least one information related to at least one among the current location, the current time, a predetermined interest, at least one external device connected thereto via communications and a predetermined schedule, by summarizing the searched information and by displaying the same in the form of a bulletin board on the standby screen.
