PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a duplex writing implement which can be operated while a writing posture is kept during writing without separating the implement temporarily from a paper surface when one pen body protruded from the tip opening of a barrel is retracted, and the other pen body is protruded for writing. SOLUTION: The writing implement is composed of the barrel 1 in which two longitudinal window holes 12 are formed in the tip part, two refills 2A and 2B housed in the barrel, a rotary cam 3 housed freely rotatably in the rear end part of the barrel, and actuators 4A and 4B which are fitted to the tip parts of the refills respectively and in which buttons 41A and 41B are protruded from the window holes the cylinder. When the button of one actuator is moved to the tail end side by a fingertip, one refill is retracted to rotate the rotary cam, and the other refill is advanced so that the pen body of the refill is protruded from the tip end opening of the barrel.
