PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an acidic hair dye composition for the hair, with which the hair is finished in excellent feel after use while satisfying essential conditions such as dyeability, etc., as an acidic hair dye. SOLUTION: This acidic hair dye is obtained by formulating 0.01-5.0 wt.% of an anionic polymer such as a carboxyvinyl polymer with an alkyl modified carboxyvinyl polymer, a polyacrylic acid or its salt, 0.01-15.0 wt.% of a cationic polymer and 0.01-5.0 wt.% of an anionic surfactant and/or a nonionic surfactant in the formulation ratio of the cationic polymer to the anionic polymer of the cationic polymer/the anionic polymer of 10/1 to 1/50 by weight.
