PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide microorganisms belonging to the genus Bacillus capable of highly producing surfacten, and a method for producing the surfacten by culturing the above microorganisms and accumulating the surfacten in the culturing liquid in a high concentration. SOLUTION: This method for producing the surfacten comprises culturing the microorganisms belonging to the genus Bacillus in a liquid medium containing a crushed material of beans such as soybean or its extract as a nitrogen source, and accumulating the surfacten in the culturing liquid. A microorganism belonging to the genus Bacillus useful for the above method, having a capacity of producing the crude surfacten in 8-50 g/L concentration by culturing for 20-90 hr is also provided. |
