PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extensively reduce consumption of an working discharge region of a tool electrode concerning an electric discharge machining method and its device to electric-discharge-machine a workpiece made of a high electric resistant material. SOLUTION: The electric discharge machining method to electric-discharge machine the workpiece by arranging the electrically conductive member on an upper surface of the workpiece made of the high electric resistant material, dipping the workpiece and the electrically conductive member in electric discharge machining liquid and electrically discharging between the tool electrode and the workpiece and the electrically conductive member constitutes its characteristic feature of forming an auxiliary electric discharging region to electrically discharge between itself and the electrically conductive member and the machining electric discharge region to electrically discharge between itself and the workpiece by separating them from each otherand electric-discharge-machining the workpiece while electrically discharging between the auxiliary electric- discharging region and the electrically conductive member and the machining electric-discharge region and the workpiece.
