PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chair wherein the folding of the leg can be safely and easily performed, and also, the erected and stood leg has stability. SOLUTION: A contact surface is equipped with a head section 5 having a pin groove, in which an upper pin 6 is fitted, and a slope section. In this case, one end of the upper pin 6 is fixed to a leg attaching metal fitting 2. Also, at the upper central section of the contact surface, a slit 10 is formed, and the contact surface is combined with a fixed body 12. In the lower longitudinal direction of the contact surface, two bodies, a thick plate-form piston body 11 and a thick plate-form fixed body, are combined and integrated by fitting a spring in the long grooves of the piston body 11 and the immobile body. In this case, the piston body 11 is equipped with a protruding terrace at the upper end, and has the long groove. The fixed body is equipped with a pin hole at the upper central section of the immobile body, and has the long groove equipped with a protruding terrace at the lower end in the lower longitudinal direction of the contact surface being combined with the piston body which is a separate body. Then, the integrated body is housed in a cover external body 4 under a state wherein the head section only is exposed. At the same time, a lower pin 7 is passed through a slit which is formed at the upper section of the cover external body, the pin hole at the upper section of the fixed body, and the slit at the upper section of the piston body to pivotally support the cover external body, the fixed body, and the piston body. Thus, the leg is made foldable. In this case, one end of the lower pin 7 is fixed to the leg attaching metal fitting.
