PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a tool to be used in the next in an unoperated tool magazine without any manpower in a machine tool with a plurality of tool magazines. SOLUTION: In parallel to machining while replacing tools of a main spindle in order by the tool magazine 10 in a tool delivery/acceptance position F1, necessary tools are automatically prepared in the tool magazine 10 in a tool preparation position F2 from a tool storage magazine by a holder carrier device 160. When finishing the machining by the tool provided in the tool magazine 10 in the tool delivery/acceptance position F1, a slide base 151 is moved to position the tool magazine 10 in the tool preparation position F2 in the tool delivery/acceptance position F1, and the tool magazine 10 in the delivery/ acceptance position F1 in the tool preparation position F2. The main spindle 3 replaces the tools with the tool magazine 10 holding the tool holder T for a next process newly positioned in the delivery/acceptance position F1 and instantly moves to the machining of a next process.
