PATTERNED MICROWAVE OVEN SUSCEPTOR

A patterned susceptor structure of relatively thin electroconductive materia l for converting incident microwave energy to thermal energy. The patterned susceptor has a lobe shaped island strip (22) nested within and surrounded b y an outer strip (24). The island strip is coupled to the outer strip to stimulate uniform heating between an outer edge (23) of the susceptor structure and a center portion (25) of the susceptor structure. The island strip is coupled to the outer strip by spacing the island strip from the out er strip with a microwave transparent slotline (26).
