PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dewatering acceleration method for a dust collection slurry generated in the steel industry, etc., which efficiently degrades the moisture content of the dust collection slurry without necessitating the management of pH, an additional equipment and the maintenance in dewatering treatment of the dust collection slurry and a dewatering accelerator for the same. SOLUTION: This dewatering acceleration method for the dust collection slurry comprises subjecting the dust collection slurry to dewatering treatment by adding an aqueous solution containing >=1 kind selected from nitrate and nitrite to the dust collection slurry.
