PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an upper knock out apparatus which is used for a forging press and equipped with a means surely and safely protecting the upper knock out apparatus when an overload is applied to a knock out pin. SOLUTION: The upper knock out apparatus is provided with a lever means consisting of two levers 2a, 2b to give protruding force from a slider rear face to the knock out pin 1, a cam 6 to give oscillation force to the lever 2b and a transmission ember to transmit the oscillation force of a connection rod 4 through a lever 5b and a link 5a. The two levers 2a, 2b are constituted so that its fastening part is fastened by a hydraulic cylinder of a hydraulic fastening means 70, a rated load is decided by setting a hydraulic pressure with a hydraulic unit 74, when overloading above the rated load, the load corresponding thereto is released by a overload valve of the hydraulic unit 74.
