PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel method for performing activation of a monolith adsorbent and decomposition of a binder in such a manner that improved adsorbent characteristics are obtained in order to separate the components of a gaseous mixture. SOLUTION: The method of removing the binder from the monolith structure while activating the adsorbent in the monolith structure is the method including passing recycling gas through the monolith at a temperature at which the binder in the monolith is decomposed. More specifically, the improved process of preparing the monolith adsorbent includes the following process steps of; forming a slurry containing water, fibers, the binder, the adsorbent and a flocculating agent; forming paper from this slurry; and forming the monolith containing this paper. The method comprises passing the flow of the regenerating gas through the monolith at a temperature sufficient for decomposing at least part of the binder existing in the adsorbent. |
