The present invention relates to a vessel monitoring system and to a vessel monitoring method thereof. According to the present invention, the vessel monitoring method of the vessel monitoring system comprises the steps of: inputting first vessel information from an automatic identified system message to be outputted from a vessel; inputting second vessel information about the vessel from a vessel operating information system; selecting a vessel tracing parameter based on the first and second vessel information; and tracing the vessel by using a trace algorithm corresponding to a vessel tracing algorithm.
