PURPOSE: A variable volume oil pump for a power steering system is provided to regulate flow rate of oil regardless of changes of RPM(Revolution Per Minute) by varying flow rate of oil from an oil pump according to RPM of a rotor. CONSTITUTION: A variable oil pump of a power steering system is composed of a plunger(3) sliding between vanes(116) formed by centrifugal force, and an elastic member supporting the plunger in the middle of a rotor(1) elastically. Plural vanes are installed around the rotor, and the variable volume unit is installed around the rotor between vanes. The elastic member consists of a tension coil spring(7) connecting the plunger to the rotor. Flow rate of oil per the unit revolution of the oil pump is adjusted variably according to RPM of the rotor by adjusting the gap between vanes with the plunger. The flow rate of oil from the oil pump is kept constantly regardless of RPM changes of the rotor. Endurance is improved with cooling oil properly during circulating through a gearbox and an oil reservoir.
