PURPOSE: An optical sensor is provided to produce an image sensor having no after-glow and image distortion by removing capacitance left in a capacitor or a wire placed on a sensor array substrate and to improve signal to noise ratio by eliminating noise. CONSTITUTION: An optical sensor(131) for an image reader includes a sensor array substrate(133), an object, and a readout circuit(135). The sensor array substrate is constructed in such a manner that a plurality of pixels each of which includes a sensor thin film transistor, sensor switching element and a storage capacitor are arranged in a matrix form. The object has a reflection pattern formed on the surface thereof. The readout circuit is connected to the sensor array substrate, receives optical current output from the sensor array substrate to convert the optical current into an analog signal, and discharges charges left in the sensor array substrate.
