METHOD FOR CORRECTING TONE OF CATHODE RAY TUBE DISPLAY

PURPOSE: A method for correcting the tone of a cathode ray tube display is provided to correct the tone of a CRT display with luminance around a viewer being reflected on the correction. CONSTITUTION: A transfer function on which mechanical gamma characteristic of a cathode ray tube has been reflected is obtained. A relation equation of luminance of the cathode ray tube and visual-sensitive luminance, which reflects luminance around a viewer, is obtained. LUT algorithm is acquired using the transfer function and the relation equation. The gamma characteristic is obtained using a test pattern independent from the transfer function and a visual-sensitive characterizing method. The independent test pattern is constructed in a manner that black and white are mixed at a specific area ratio, or the test pattern uses uniform gray color.
