PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an industrially advantageous method of producing a gaseous mixture of carbon monoxide with hydrogen by decomposing methanol or a mixture of methanol with methyl formate in a liquid state in the presence of a solid catalyst. SOLUTION: The producing method is performed by using the solid catalyst containing copper, chromium, manganese and barium.
