The illuminated lollipop has a stick (1) with the sweet (3) at one end. The sweet is made of a translucent foodstuff. The bottom of the stick is held (7,8) in a flat holder (4) with light sources (5,5',5) embedded in its surface to direct light onto the translucent sweet. A battery is housed (9) under the flat holder.
