PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid-state polymer type water electrolyzer which suppresses the content of impurities in circulating water, reduces the consumption of water and makes the apparatus compact. SOLUTION: A water circulating line 23 is provided with a branching line 41 which takes out part of the circulating water supplied to a water electrolytic cell 20 and supplies the water to an oxygen gas-liquid separator 22 after treatment by an ion exchanger 43. A heat exchanger 42 for cooling the circulating water is disposed upstream of the ion exchanger 43.
