PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide desired programs in a desired sequence using a simple operation by making it easy to understand which programs are recorded in which order, when many programs are recorded on a removable recoding medium. SOLUTION: In the case of recording a plurality of video contents on a tape of a VTR section 13, thumbnail images of the video contents displayed on a television screen are generated and stored in an HD 23 and the thumbnail images are outputted in a way of being displayed on the television screen. Furthermore, in the case of continuously reproducing the video contents recorded on the tape, the thumbnail images are displayed on the television screen, so as to enable a user to designate the reproduction sequence and the video contents to be reproduced and the recording and reproducing device continuously reproduces the designated video contents in the designated order of reproduction.
