PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a distortion correcting method capable of maintaining a constant transmission distortion characteristic with respect to the change of the transmission distortion characteristic caused by environmental variation, etc., and radio equipment having a distortion correction function. SOLUTION: Baseband data 10 to be transmitted is converted into a transmission signal through a distortion compensating part 117, a D/A converting part 102, an orthogonal modulator 103 and a frequency converter 104, subjected to power amplification in a power amplifier 105 and outputted from an antenna part 107. A part of the output 17 of the power amplifier 105 is digitally converted into feedback system baseband data 21 through a directional coupler 106, a frequency converter 113, a quadrature demodulator 112 and an A/D converting part 111. The feedback system baseband data 21 is compared with the baseband data 10 to be transmitted by a comparing part 115, and a distortion quantity operating part 114 calculates the distortion quantity of the transmission signal. A bias controlling part 110 controls the bias voltage of the power amplifier 105 on the basis of the distortion quantity.
