PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate luminance difference along an enlargement part when the enlargement display in a perpendicular direction is performed in a CS-on- gate liquid crystal display. SOLUTION: This liquid crystal display device which has pixel electrodes, switching electrodes, a common electrode, an auxiliary capacitors, and has a 1st scanning period t1 and a 2nd scanning period t2 in a normal horizontal scanning period, where the scanning lines are scanned and also scans prescribed scanning lines in the 1st scanning period and scanning lines of next stages in the 2nd scanning period, so as to supply the same display signal as a display signal for the prescribed scanning lines along the scanning lines of the next stages varies a common potential Vcom supplied to the common electrode, in synchronism with the cycle of the inversion of the polarity of the display signal and also adds a correction voltage to the common potential, when the common potential is varied.
